I have bounced around in my life. Studied economics then biology and then economics again. I returned to the Bay Area in 2022 after having lived in Philadelphia, New York, London and Boston. I grew up on east bay and down the peninsula but decided to live in San Francisco when I moved back. Despite its many flaws, I feel an affinity for SF. Maybe because the city was always in the background for me growing up and then served as the base camp from which I launched a new, daunting trajectory in my life.
For a while I was just rebuilding myself so would pull in elements of the city into this new version of me. And trying to know a city is like holding water, you have to drink it in before it slips away. And in this way, it becomes part of me and so then any story about me is also about the place where I live.
